It’s always important to take a step back and realize that even though there is a plethora of marketing techniques, SEO tactics, and an abundance of subject matter to blog about, there are the tried and true methods that stand the test of time.

It’s important to realize that delivering engaging, thought-provoking content to your audience will always drive traffic to your blog. Optimized keywords and ranking within Google’s powerful search engine are ways to increase traffic, but content is king, as has been said many a time.
I recently stumbled upon an infographic courtesy of Copyblogger that piqued my interest. It reads, “11 Essential Ingredients Every Blog Post Needs”. Being that this website is highly trafficked, I wondered to myself if Copyblogger actually practices what they preach. Anyone who receives their daily email updates will realize that they follow all of the rules that they lay out for the rest of us bloggers to the T.

This infographic pretty much sums up everything that bloggers should be striving to create. Realize that the headline is what brings your audience in. If you can remember back to your days of writing high school essays in English class, you’ll remember that it’s absolutely necessary to further entice your readers with a captivating opening paragraph.
Having sentences that read well and explanatory words further entice your readers by establishing the sense that you, the blogger, know what you’re writing about. If you don’t establish a sense of authority, then there’s no reason for the reader to continue on reading.
Bullet points that layout crucial pieces of information are even more ways to establish authority and prove that you’re a thought leader in your industry.
The imagery in a blog is just as important as the writing; that’s because it should be considered content just as much as the text within a post should.
Passion for your writing needs to be obvious within your content. Your selling yourself and the topics that you blog about. Being authentic is the only way to stand above the rest when it comes to creating amazing content and killer blog posts.
